This Project is conducted through research fund from the Leverhulme Trust, UK: Contract number:F/00 174/K. This site is to publicise the research project and show what has been achieved. This project involves 5 PhD students from 5 countries of Eastern Africa: Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda carrying out research on five highly valued indigenous fruit trees over a period of three years, and the main aim of the research is to investigate and develop methods of improving the management and utilisation of selected indigenous fruit trees of economic value with the participation of local communities. The ultimate aim is to diversify the income and sustain the livelihoods of local communities. The achievements so far are highlighted in the summary, here.
