D'Odgy switches

North

The bidding was fairly swift as is the style in the Débutante Bridge club
Farley D'odgy opened 1H as East and South overcalled 1N which was
raised to 3N by Constance. "Good luck partner" she said as she returned
to her knitting.

Serge led the 2h and Farley saw the following:

                    North (Constance)
                    J 9 8 6
                    5 4
                    J
                    A K 9 6 5 2
West                              East
(Serge)                          (D'Odgy)
lead 2H                          Q 2
                                     K Q 7 6 3
                                     A Q 5 4 2
                                     2
                   South
                   (Super D'Clarer)

The first trick went H 2-5-Q-T and D'Odgy reflected on his return
South was marked with AJT of hearts and the best hope seemed
to be that pard had the Txxx in diamonds and a club stop so he returned
the qD. Super covered this with the K and ducked a club to West and claimed
11 tricks on the Jh return.

                    North (Constance)
                    J 9 8 6
                    5 4
                    J
                    A K 9 6 5 2
West                              East
(Serge)                          (D'Odgy)
10 6 3                            Q 2
J 8 2                              K Q 7 6 3
9 7 6 3                           A Q 5 4 2
Q J 10                           7
                   South
                   (Super D'Clarer)
                   A K 5 4
                   A 10 9
                   K 10 8
                   8 4 3

"Why not lead the Jh at trick one pard" said dodgy
"Well then you would probably play me for J 2 and switch to
the Qd at trick 3.. but I suppose you are right, it will save an overtrick"
